The department of Social Sciences at Greenville University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Equine Studies with a focus on Equine Assisted Services (EAS). This position will work in collaboration with our agribusiness, horsemanship, psychology, and social work faculty to create a holistic equine studies program incorporating EAS. EAS is a unifying term that captures services where someone who is a professional in both fields of mental health and equine with experience in incorporating equine to benefit people in a therapeutic triad (client-horse-therapist). It is critical that this candidate can incorporate into their curriculum a clinical knowledge of therapeutic service, equine, and effective horse-human interaction management. These will be implemented within the greater context of holistic care while managing the therapeutic alliances therein. The successful candidate will provide an experiential learning environment that is innovative and relevant. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand, and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education. The primary foci are teaching excellence and mission alignment. In cooperation with other faculty in the department and college, the candidate will develop and deliver innovative courses at the undergraduate level. The modality is primarily in-person initially, with online and hybrid modalities to be developed and maintained as well. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, engagement in community and professional groups, and serving on university committees. A passion for working with undergraduate students in the Christian higher education setting is essential.
