The School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks a full-time 9-month (academic year) Assistant/Associate Professor of Animation, beginning August 2025 on the Tempe campus. The position responsibilities include research, undergraduate/graduate teaching and mentorship, and service. The successful candidate demonstrates a rich and varied skill set in the field of Animation with a focus on 2D, experimental, digital, and public art formats. The successful candidate is expected to pursue a research agenda in their field. The successful candidate has expertise in the technical principles required for producing animation, along with the ability to apply these skills to advance conceptual issues. The successful candidate will teach upper and lower division undergraduate and graduate courses, modalities may include online, hybrid and in-person. The candidate will work with an expansive student population and effectively communicate to students their progress, while considering their varied experiences. The successful candidate will mentor and advise students as well as serve on graduate committees. The successful candidate will have service responsibilities including, but are not limited to, overseeing the online animation minor and contributing to the development of a global exchange program. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills and be able to effectively communicate and prioritize deadlines.
