Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Studies, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• For Assistant Planner: Six months of experience in a public contact position, including customer service and complaint resolution.
• For Associate Planner: Two years of professional municipal or regional planning experience, or a Master's Degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and GIS.

Nice To Haves

• Paraprofessional or internship experience in public or private sector planning.
• Experience in a lead or supervisory capacity in planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Permit Center and assist with public inquiries.
• Demonstrate diplomatic skills in dealing with the general public and staff.
• Make decisions and act within general guidelines as a project planner.
• Review current development proposals for compliance with city policies and ordinances.
