The Department of Neurology is searching for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Neurology with specialization in Epileptology. The Department of Neurology provides clinical services to the community of NW Ohio and SE Michigan for all types of neurological disorders. An important aspect of the mission of the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences is educating students, residents and fellows as well as developing research programs related to neurological disorders. As a full time, faculty member, he/she is required to devote his/her full professional efforts to the programs of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences, fulfilling at the highest level of professional competence. This is an academic position, which requires a combination of teaching, patient care, research/scholarship, as well as administrative activities, that are necessary for the function of the Department of Neurology.

  • Teaching: Actively participate in the Department's educational programs, teaching medical students and residents.
  • Participate in the medical student lecture series and all of the teaching conferences of the Department.
  • Participate in postgraduate courses conducted by the Department.
  • Precept and mentor students and residents.
  • Conduct teaching rounds and ambulatory clinics with medical students during clerkship and advanced clinical rotations.
  • Conduct didactics for medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in departmental conferences such as Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Grand Rounds, and Journal Clubs.
  • Clinical: Participate in the neurology practice structure including inpatient and outpatient clinical services.
  • Share EEG reading service among the division, ranging from 8-12 weeks per year.
  • General Inpatient admitting or consult service ranges from 4-8 weeks per year.
  • Outpatient clinics will be assigned for 6-8 half days per week when not on service.
  • Opportunity to read IOM several days per week.
  • Research/Scholarship: Participate in research and other scholarly activities related to the area of expertise and interest with expectation of intramural and extramural grant funding.
  • Administration/Service: Participate in administrative and/or services functions of the Department of Neurology, the College of Medicine and Life Sciences or teaching hospital committees.
  • MD/DO who has successfully completed a residency in neurology.
  • Successfully completed a fellowship in epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology.
  • Board Certified or become Board Certified within 3 years of recruitment.
  • Meet all the institutional requirements for appointment to Assistant Professor.
