About The Position

The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department at Northeastern University is seeking a non-tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant, associate, or full teaching professor. The primary focus of this role is high-quality, student-centered teaching in the area of Industrial Engineering, with responsibilities including course preparation, delivery, and assessment. The position allows for participation in departmental and university service activities and encourages engagement in modest research activities for professional development.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field by the appointment start date.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

  • Industrial experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the latest electronic teaching tools and experiential e-learning.

Responsibilities

  • Teach six courses annually at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the MIE department.
  • Prepare, deliver, and assess course materials effectively.
  • Engage in industry outreach to support experiential components of the curriculum.
  • Participate in department, university, and professional service activities.
  • Optionally initiate and undertake research and service activities, including advising students and contributing to e-learning.
