About The Position

The Indiana University Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, IU Indianapolis campus, invites applications for one open rank tenured or tenure-track assistant, associate or full professor position in Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The candidate will have a tenure home in the Department of Human-Centered Computing, with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Computer Science. Appointments will begin August 1, 2026, on the Indianapolis campus. Candidates should have an excellent research record, demonstrated through high-impact peer-reviewed publications. They should also demonstrate the ability or significant potential to secure external funding and develop a forward-looking research agenda as a Principal Investigator (PI). The typical effort for a tenured or tenure-track faculty member is expected to be 40% research, 40% teaching and 20% service.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a record of outstanding research productivity and impact in fundamental aspects of data science.
• Ability to secure external funding.
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in-person, online, or in blended learning.

Nice To Haves

• Research expertise in machine learning and deep learning.
• Experience in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
• Knowledge of data mining and natural language processing.
• Familiarity with computer vision and computational sustainability.
• Experience in human-AI collaboration and alignment.
