The Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment (ESSIE in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE)) at the University of Florida is soliciting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Transportation Engineering and to serve as the Director of the I-STREET (Implementing Solutions from Transportation Research and Evaluation of Emerging Technologies) Lab. We welcome applicants with research expertise in emerging transportation technologies (e.g., connected / autonomous vehicles, smart infrastructure, AI, digital twins). I-STREET is a 'living lab' on the University of Florida's (UF) campus, surrounding roadway networks, and across the state of Florida. It is a collaboration between the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the City of Gainesville (CoG), and the University of Florida's Transportation Institute (UFTI). Autonomous vehicles, smart devices, and sensors are tested and deployed through I-STREET to enhance mobility and safety. I-STREET is officially recognized by the Florida Legislature making it a resource for state and local governments, the transportation industry, and universities. The I-STREET director will strengthen Florida's national leadership in advancing transportation technology development and deployment in partnership with public agencies and the private sector.
