About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a neurologist with Alzheimer's disease training, interested in pursuing an academic career. A substantial portion of time will be devoted to research. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

Requirements

  • Must have completed a neurology residency program.
  • Alzheimer's disease fellowship training or equivalent experience required.
  • Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in one of the following: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
  • Must have a WI medical license by the start date.
  • MD or DO or equivalent is required by the start date.

  • Candidates for Associate Professor or Professor must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the Tenure track.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank and in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health.
  • An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Teach continuing education programs for physicians and the public.
  • Research activities include development of an independent, extramurally funded research program.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Clinical activities include attending duties one day per week in outpatient Alzheimer's clinics at the UW Hospital and Clinics, the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital or other affiliated locations.
