About The Position

The Assistant/Associate Director for Compliance at the University of Virginia Athletics Department is responsible for ensuring adherence to NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations. This role involves providing compliance information, interpreting regulations, and supporting the overall objectives of the compliance program. The incumbent will analyze situations, provide guidance, coordinate communication, and monitor compliance processes while working under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; Juris Doctor or relevant Master's Degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience, preferably in Athletics Compliance.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to perform accurate, detail-oriented work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Athletics Compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for several sports teams, managing all aspects of compliance for 3-6 sports.
  • Coordinate and monitor external communication channels for the Compliance Office.
  • Act as the staff liaison with Teamworks Compliance+Recruiting Software.
  • Review and approve student-athlete complimentary admission requests for assigned sports.
  • Review and approve CARA logs.
  • Manage the time management program.
  • Ensure compliance of telephone calls and text messages with NCAA rules.
  • Monitor and maintain personnel in accordance with NCAA, ACC, and University rules and regulations.
  • Act as the staff liaison with the Business Office and assist with expense report monitoring and approval.
  • Serve as the staff liaison with the Office of Youth Protection.
  • Review travel documentation for compliance with the Clery Act.
  • Oversee the book disbursement and reimbursement process.
  • Manage the Student Assistance Fund, including international taxes and health insurance.
  • Provide necessary information for the drug testing program.
  • Oversee donation requests from a compliance perspective.
