About The Position
This is a provisional appointment. The mission of the City of Boston Assessing Department is to accurately collect data, assess property at its full and fair cash value, and provide prompt and courteous service to the public. The Assessing Department is a leader in municipal valuation and seeks to maintain that status by attracting talented experience to our core staffing. The backbone of the City's valuation system, the Assessor Trainee will develop a deep knowledge of our neighborhoods and property valuation. Work includes frequent trips throughout the City to review and update property attributes and converse with our residents. Attention to detail is a must. Trainees are provided with the opportunity to become Accredited Assessors through coursework provided by the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers (MAAO) and the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). The position reports to the unit manager or assigned supervisor of a higher grade.
