About The Position

The Assistant Appraiser position at the Lincoln County Appraisers Office involves skilled work under the supervision of the County Appraiser. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Kansas Driver's License required.
  • Willingness to attend training to become a Certified/Licensed Appraiser.
  • Knowledge of laws relating to property valuation preferred.
  • Ability to operate computers and software, including ORION, and other office equipment necessary.
  • Strong command of the English language and effective communication skills required.
  • Excellent organizational and public relation skills needed.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data recording.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of mathematics related to property valuation.
  • Experience in customer service or public relations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the discovery, listing, and appraisal of taxable property.
  • Compile and maintain historical data for evaluations and reports.
  • Report discrepancies and changes affecting property valuation.
  • Assist in maintaining and modifying information compiled by Orion.
  • Generate and transfer information for tax generation to appropriate departments.
  • Receive and file department documents.
  • Identify and locate property parcels from maps and legal descriptions.
  • Visit properties to verify accuracy of records.
  • Measure structures, draw sketches, and compute area and perimeter.
  • Identify structural features and types of construction of buildings.
  • Interview owners, tenants, and agents to obtain information.
  • Measure and estimate project completion times.
  • Communicate with the public for appraisal information.
  • Identify property uses and respond to citizen inquiries.
