About The Position

Tokio Marine HCC – Public Risk Group, part of the Tokio Marine family of companies, is a market leader in specialized insurance solutions for municipal entities. We work with cities, townships, villages, public safety departments, and special districts across the country—helping them protect their communities through innovative coverage and trusted partnerships. We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Actuary Analyst who will work closely with key business partners to assist with gathering and analyzing data, preparing actuarial analyses, and state rate filings. In this role, you will build and maintain analytical tools and produce reports that support business decisions and operations. The ideal candidate lives within a reasonable commuting distance to Minnetonka, MN or Troy, MI and is comfortable with a Hybrid In-Office Work Schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Completion of 1–4 actuarial exams (CAS or SOA; 2+ preferred).
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and comfort with programming tools (Python a plus).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently across teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or coursework in data analytics, programming, or insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare routine data reports and submissions
  • Build and improve on the availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data and data pipelines
  • Regularly monitor issues surrounding Actuarial data and processes, making sure solutions continue to work and are well documented
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement with supervisor approval
  • Support, analyze, and evaluate various lines of business to project loss ratios for future business including producing full reports for underwriting, management, or reinsurers.
  • Prepare rate filings, working cooperatively with other areas such as Underwriting and Compliance
  • Assist in preparing rate indications and recommendations
  • Assist with monitoring price levels and profitability through periodic analyses
  • Assist in developing and delivering tools to drive appropriate portfolio and policy level decision making
  • Assist in product development by estimating impacts of new or enhanced coverages and preparing rate pages and filing support
  • Assist with loss and LAE reserve analyses
  • Develop a foundational knowledge of the functions performed by the Actuarial department and how the department relates to other functional areas of the organization
