About the position

The Assistant Actuarial Analyst position within the Annuity Pricing Group at Group 1001 is designed for recent or soon-to-be college graduates. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and enhancing actuarial models and processes to support pricing, corporate objectives, and regulatory needs. The position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement in actuarial processes, while also providing opportunities for professional development towards FSA designation.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and enhance actuarial models and processes for various purposes such as pricing, rate setting, and reserve valuation.
  • Produce, summarize, analyze and communicate results of actuarial models.
  • Provide peer review of actuarial work as requested.
  • Design, test, and review model enhancements for new product features and assumptions.
  • Improve processes related to data quality and model efficiency.
  • Ensure adequate governance and documentation of actuarial processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize results.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, finance, economics, math, statistics, physics, engineering or related field.
  • At least one Society of Actuaries actuarial exam passed.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel (including VBA) and exposure to database and visualization tools (Microsoft Access, SQL, Power BI).
  • Self-starter with the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to financial modeling preferred.
  • Willingness to work slices of unusual hours to expedite work.
