About The Position

Provide student services to undergraduate students by advising, leading orientation and informational sessions, keeping student records and grades, and track progress towards degree completion. Collaboration with other staff and participation at some School of Nursing events is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two or more years of experience providing advising or student support.
  • Professional interpersonal communication, particularly excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal - demeanor, attire, attitude - communication skills.
  • Passionate about teamwork and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Limited evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Must be able to work in-person on the University of Texas at Austin campus.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Four or more years of experience working with college students in an academic capacity.
  • Familiarity with the University of Texas at Austin policies, processes, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Advise undergraduate students individually and in groups.
  • Track progress of each student towards completing degrees and provide additional advising support as needed.
  • Collaborate with Student Services staff on events and help with FIG, orientation, graduation, degree audits, and similar activities.
  • Represent the School of Nursing with other advisors at Academic Counselor Association.
  • Manage academic advising initiatives to guide and support students.
  • Participate in advisor meetings to improve services.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
