The Assignment Editor and Producer at TelevisaUnivision is responsible for generating, verifying, planning, and developing story ideas and breaking news for newscasts. This role involves coordinating editorial meetings, managing reporters, anchors, and photographers, and maintaining a comprehensive plan for daily and future story lists. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and manage strict deadlines, while also engaging with the community and other news organizations.

  • Generate research, verify, plan and develop story ideas and breaking news for newscasts
  • Coordinate editorial meetings
  • Assign stories for news and special projects to reporters, anchors, and photographers
  • Maintain a plan for daily, weekly and future story lists
  • Act as a liaison with other news organizations, community contacts, and UTG assignment desks
  • Line produce in booth
  • Regularly post on company's social media with appropriate descriptions and push notifications
  • Monitor news wires, social media, and scanners to mobilize for breaking news
  • Participate in station's special events and social media pages
  • Work under pressure, manage breaking news and strict deadlines
  • Work weekends, holidays and overnights if needed
  • Minimum of 2-years' experience in a newsroom required
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Know basics of editing
  • Detail oriented, organized, disciplined, can manage multiple tasks/responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, iNews, live feeds, and social media platforms
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, reach and sit for up to (8) hours
