About The Position

The Assets Protection Team Leader at Target is responsible for leading a security culture, including crisis response, safety environment, and crowd management planning. This role involves implementing daily/weekly Assets Protection workload priorities, responding to theft incidents, and partnering with store leaders on operational shortage priorities. The Team Leader will lead a team of hourly members, develop their skills, and manage staffing needs based on security and theft patterns. The position requires working a flexible schedule that may include early morning, overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Age 18 or older.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Effective communication skills.

  • Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests.
  • Welcome and engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor.
  • Influence and validate physical security and safety processes.
  • Participate in store response and emergency crisis situations.
  • Create security plans for in-store events.
  • Educate teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends in the store.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs based on security and theft patterns.
  • Own the prevention and resolution of external theft incidents.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed.
  • Support team onboarding and learning.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct and compliance.
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors.
