About The Position

The Assets Protection Team Leader at Target is responsible for leading a security culture, including crisis response, safety environment, and crowd management planning. This role involves implementing daily/weekly Assets Protection workload priorities, responding to theft incidents, and partnering with store leaders on operational shortage priorities. The position requires leading a team of hourly members, developing their skills, and managing staffing needs based on security and theft patterns. The Team Leader will also be involved in educating store leadership on merchandise protection best practices and maintaining relationships with law enforcement and other partners.

Requirements

  • Age 18 or older.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements.
  • Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests.
  • Welcome and engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor.
  • Influence and validate physical security and safety processes.
  • Participate in store response and emergency crisis situations.
  • Create security plans for in-store events.
  • Support leader in educating teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and support leader in talent planning.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends in the store.
  • Develop tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs.
  • Own the prevention and resolution of external theft incidents.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations.
  • Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practices.
  • Order merchandise protection devices as needed.
  • Communicate AP priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
  • Build relationships of trust and accountability with leaders and Store Director.
  • Collaborate with retail organization partners to analyze industry trends.
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions.
  • Support team onboarding and learning.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct and compliance.
  • Serve as first responder for in-store safety incidents.
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing all best practices.
