About The Position

The Assets Protection Team Leader at Target is responsible for leading a security culture, including crisis response, safety environment, and crowd management planning. This role involves protecting profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and ensuring product availability for guests. The Team Leader will build relationships with store leaders and public safety officials, including law enforcement, and will lead a team of hourly team members. The position requires implementing daily/weekly Assets Protection workload priorities, responding to theft incidents, and educating store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.

Requirements

  • Age 18 or older.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Effective communication skills.

  • Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests.
  • Welcome and engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor.
  • Influence and validate physical security and safety processes.
  • Participate in store response and emergency crisis situations.
  • Create security plans for in-store events.
  • Support leader in educating teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and support leader in talent planning.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends in the store.
  • Develop tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs.
  • Own the prevention and resolution of external theft incidents.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations.
  • Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practices.
  • Order merchandise protection devices as needed.
  • Communicate Assets Protection priorities to the team and leadership.
  • Build relationships with store leaders and law enforcement.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Model the execution of physical security processes.
  • Lead by creating a welcoming experience for guests.
