About The Position

The Assets Protection Specialist role at Target is focused on keeping guests, team members, and the brand secure while leading through crisis events. The position involves protecting profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and ensuring product availability for guests. The role requires building relationships with store leaders and public safety officials, including law enforcement. The Assets Protection Specialist will utilize surveillance and intelligence-led tactics to maintain safety and security, document cases effectively, and identify strategic resolutions to external theft and fraud.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support total store sales and guest service by preventing and resolving theft.
  • Resolve theft using good judgment and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas.
  • Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
  • Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
  • Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity.
  • Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation following AP policy.
  • Promote a physical security and safety culture for team members and guests.
  • Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target's interests.
