About The Position

Alternative Capital Markets is seeking a Vice President to join their team in San Francisco. Wealth Management Across Wealth Management, Goldman Sachs helps empower clients and customers around the world to reach their financial goals. Our advisor-led wealth management businesses provide financial planning, investment management, banking and comprehensive advice to a wide range of clients, including ultra-high net worth and high net worth individuals, as well as family offices, foundations and endowments, and corporations and their employees. Our consumer business provides digital solutions for customers to better spend, borrow, invest, and save. Across Wealth Management, our growth is driven by a relentless focus on our people, our clients and customers, and leading-edge technology, data and design. Alternative Capital Markets (ACM) is a global team with 60+ alternative investment professionals across eight offices (New York, Albany, Dallas, London, Zurich, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shenzhen), responsible for over $120B+ in AUS, serving institutions, foundations, family offices, high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals. ACM is the architect of the Wealth Alternatives platform including private equity, growth / venture capital, private credit, private real estate, hedge funds, co-investments and impact private investing. These offerings include AM Private, XIG, and third-party external investment strategies, as well as differentiated private company access via both internal and external referrals. ACM's full-service capital markets business covers the entire lifecycle of an alternative investment, from investment sourcing to client solutions, as well as a new discretionary offering enabling programmatic platform access, an in-house liquidity platform for clients (qualified matching service, or QMS), and dedicated platform management and strategy. ACM's Liquidity Solutions business is rapidly growing given the increased commitments to private assets across private wealth investors and the natural need for liquidity over time. The Liquidity Solutions team focuses on a range of offerings, including a quarterly auction process, tail-end fund liquidity sales and strategic transactions for specific platform assets. This role will focus on the development of the platform and infrastructure that enables transactions facilitated by the Liquidity Solutions team.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or Higher.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets and investment instruments.
  • 4+ years experience in venture capital, growth equity, wealth management, asset management, investment banking, or private equity.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sophisticated and tactful client manager who can effectively manage the entire investor lifecycle.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, managing multiple projects with different deadlines.
  • Self-starter, with ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Solid work ethic, motivation level, and strong attention to detail.
  • SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 (must be obtained within 3 months).

Responsibilities

  • Help establish and manage GS ACM relationships with external managers, focusing on West Coast Growth and Venture.
  • Source and originate new alternative investment offerings to meet client demand and address current market opportunities.
  • Serve as an alternative investment strategist, helping establish GS Wealth house view on current private market trends/opportunities.
  • Provide insight to clients and internal GS constituents, serving as a key resource for San Francisco advisors and clients.
  • Work with external third party managers to source co-investment deal flow for GS PWM with a focus on SF-based family office syndication.
  • Provide input on ACM sales strategy across client segments, advising on growth strategies for new offerings/solutions.
  • Develop region-specific fundraising strategies.
  • Serve as key point of contact for SF-based family office clients regarding ACM direct company investment offerings.
  • Lead client portfolio reviews, including alternative portfolio analysis/implementation guidance, and provide performance attribution and fund commentary.
