As an Asset Recovery Specialist at USAA, you will play a crucial role in managing consumer loan collection efforts during the final stages of delinquency, focusing on asset and collateral recovery. This position requires compliance with state and federal regulations while ensuring excellent customer service and effective risk management. You will work in a flexible environment, primarily in the office four days a week, and will be responsible for various tasks related to repossession and recovery processes.

  • Provide excellent customer service while resolving collection issues and discrepancies on member delinquent accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Manage assigned accounts to contact appropriate stakeholders and resolve collection of account/assets in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with third party vendors to approve necessary fees associated with repossession activities.
  • Review third party vendor activities to confirm vendor invoices are accurate.
  • Generate payment to third party vendors.
  • Partner with vendors to resolve any issues with sale and/or transport of repossessed collateral.
  • Request titles or necessary documents for repossessed collateral.
  • Work with and reconcile collateral auction proceeds and auction fees associated with the sale.
  • Produce after sale letter to comply with state and federal requirements.
  • Gather information to update various systems related to the member, collateral or service provider.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.
  • 1 year of collections experience to include loan servicing and/or repossession experience in a financial services organization.
  • Developing knowledge of Banking laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume area and complete work with accuracy and within a specified response time.
  • Working experience in Microsoft System Operating System to include Word and Excel.
