About The Position

The Asset Protection Specialist at Kroger is responsible for safeguarding company assets through various safety initiatives, inventory recovery, and theft reduction programs. This role involves monitoring surveillance equipment, collaborating with the district asset protection manager, and executing strategies to minimize loss and enhance profitability. The specialist will also engage in apprehending shoplifters and conducting investigations related to theft and loss prevention.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and professionalism
  • Ability to diffuse confrontational situations
  • Bachelor's Degree (desired)
  • 1 year of retail asset protection experience (desired)
  • Operational knowledge of CCTV systems (desired)
  • Wicklander Certification (desired)

Responsibilities

  • Protect company assets through safety initiatives and theft reduction programs.
  • Assist in reducing lost inventory and monitor surveillance equipment.
  • Partner with the district asset protection manager to implement AP initiatives.
  • Identify, observe, and apprehend shoplifters and individuals involved in criminal activity.
  • Conduct plainclothes surveillance to detect internal and external loss.
  • Conduct internal and external investigations and report findings to stakeholders.
  • Comply with laws and company policies while carrying out responsibilities.
  • Conduct physical security checks and make recommendations to prevent loss.
  • Partner with law enforcement and prepare case reports for prosecution.
  • Identify and resolve conditions affecting shrink, safety, and profitability.
  • Complete thorough reports on all AP related activities.
  • Support the district asset protection manager in executing AP initiatives.
  • Testify in court and labor hearings on behalf of the company.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Test functionality of store AP equipment during visits.
  • Travel to locations throughout the division and maintain a varied schedule.
