About The Position

The Asset Protection Operations Coach drives sales through effective merchandise presentation, including accurate pricing, proper signing, and maintaining inventory levels. This role is responsible for leading and developing teams by providing training, feedback, and clear expectations, while also fostering exceptional customer service. A key aspect of the position involves controlling merchandise loss and improving profitability by implementing and monitoring loss prevention policies and procedures, conducting investigations into policy violations and criminal activities, and ensuring adherence to safety and risk controls within the facility. The coach also manages facility-level training for asset protection, safety, claims, and receiving procedures, and oversees claims and receiving operations to ensure compliance and timely processing.

Requirements

  • Completion of 2 years of college.
  • OR 1 year’s experience as a supervisor in a multi-department environment.
  • OR 1 year’s experience in one of the following areas: accounting, claims, inventory control, systems/UPC, personnel, or loss prevention/asset protection in a multi department environment.
  • OR 2 years’ experience in asset protection or related area.
  • Successful completion of any applicable state requirements to work in asset protection (for example, minimum age, specialized training, certification and/ or licensing).
  • If applicable, acquisition of a current, state issued Certificate of Eligibility.
  • If applicable, successful completion of criminal background check and/or firearms authorized training.
  • Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales by ensuring effective merchandise presentation, including accurate and competitive pricing, proper signing, appropriate inventory levels, cleanliness of the area, assessing economic trends and community needs, overseeing stocking and rotation of merchandise, setting up, cleaning, and organizing product displays, and securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise.
  • Lead and develop teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates, touring stores and providing feedback (Tour-to-Teach), communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction, introducing and leading company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions, and communicating business objectives to teams effectively.
  • Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model, managing and supporting customer service initiatives (e.g., store of the community and community outreach programs), ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved, developing and implementing action plans to correct deficiencies, and providing process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, and mentoring associates, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, providing associate recognition, communicating expectations consistently and effectively, ensuring awareness, and recruiting and developing qualified associates to meet staffing needs and achieve company growth potential.
  • Control the unexplained loss of merchandise and improve profitability by identifying and communicating performance goals and objectives, building accountability for policies and procedures, measuring adherence to loss prevention policies and procedures, reviewing variances to inventory reports, conducting operational and pre-inventory reviews, gathering data, auditing results, and monitoring deficiency trends, identifying improvement opportunities, communicating and working with managers and associates to determine corrections needed to inventory controls, influencing the implementation and execution of control corrections, and training managers and associates on operational controls and processes in multiple stores.
  • Detect, deter, investigate, and resolve violations of company policies and criminal activities by investigating alleged fraud and other alleged illegal activities, conducting investigations relating to company operations and policies, gathering evidence, taking statements, writing case reports, and providing court room testimony as needed.
  • Partner in collaborative efforts with other investigative entities.
  • Monitor safety and risk controls within a facility by ensuring an effective safety program is in place, supervising safety team members, identifying accident trends to develop and implement solutions to prevent accidents, observing workplaces practices and providing training to associates on accident prevention techniques, communicating plans to minimize accidents, overseeing safety reviews, and implementing plans to improve workplace safety.
  • Manage facility-level training and execution of asset protection, safety, claims, and receiving procedures by reviewing the application of policies, procedures, compliance guidelines (e.g., cold chain, hazardous materials, and operational controls), identifying gaps in expectations versus training, determining training needs, and developing and delivering training as needed.
  • Manage claims and receiving operations by ensuring proper policies and procedures are followed, ensuring the timely processing of claims (e.g., damaged, defective, returned, liquidated items) and merchandise deliveries (e.g., suppliers, third-party deliveries), providing direction for claims or receiving issues, and maintaining necessary documentation and reporting.
  • Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs, identifying and communicating goals and objectives, building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results, identifying and addressing improvement opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans, utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy, and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.
