About The Position

This position is responsible for driving sales through effective merchandise presentation, including accurate pricing, proper signing, inventory management, and securing high-shrink merchandise. A key aspect of the role involves leading and developing teams by providing training, feedback, and clear expectations, while also fostering communication and collaboration across all associate levels. The coach models exceptional customer service, resolves customer issues, and implements action plans for improvement. A significant part of the role focuses on asset protection, controlling merchandise loss, improving profitability by enforcing loss prevention policies, conducting operational reviews, and investigating violations of company policies and criminal activities. Furthermore, the role oversees facility safety programs, identifies accident trends, provides training on accident prevention, and manages claims and receiving operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The Asset Protection Operations Coach is expected to coordinate job-related activities, build stakeholder relationships, and promote continuous learning, all while upholding Walmart's values of respect, integrity, customer service, and striving for excellence.

Requirements

  • Completion of 2 years of college.
  • OR 1 year’s experience as a supervisor in a multi-department environment.
  • OR 1 year’s experience in one of the following areas: accounting, claims, inventory control, systems/UPC, personnel, or loss prevention/asset protection in a multi department environment.
  • OR 2 years’ experience in asset protection or related area.
  • Successful completion of any applicable state requirements to work in asset protection (for example, minimum age, specialized training, certification and/ or licensing).
  • If applicable, acquisition of a current, state issued Certificate of Eligibility.
  • If applicable, successful completion of criminal background check and/or firearms authorized training.
  • Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
  • Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
  • Certification in an asset protection related field (for example, Loss Prevention Qualified, Loss Prevention Certified).
  • General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports to include the responsibility of performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.

Responsibilities

  • Drives sales by ensuring effective merchandise presentation (e.g., accurate and competitive pricing, proper signing, inventory levels, cleanliness, stocking, rotation, display organization, securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise).
  • Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, actively listening to associates, touring stores, providing feedback (Tour-to-Teach), communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates, utilizing technology, leading company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance, and communicating business objectives.
  • Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards by following the One Best Way (OBW) service model, managing and supporting customer service initiatives, ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved, developing and implementing action plans, and providing process improvement leadership.
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting clear expectations, providing associate recognition, communicating expectations, ensuring awareness, and recruiting and developing qualified associates.
  • Controls the unexplained loss of merchandise and improves profitability by identifying and communicating performance goals, building accountability for policies and procedures, measuring adherence to loss prevention policies, reviewing variances to inventory reports, conducting operational and pre-inventory reviews, gathering data, auditing results, monitoring deficiency trends, identifying improvement opportunities, communicating with managers and associates for corrections, influencing implementation and execution of control corrections, and training managers and associates on operational controls and processes in multiple stores.
  • Detects, deters, investigates, and resolves violations of company policies and criminal activities by investigating alleged fraud and other alleged illegal activities, conducting investigations, gathering evidence, taking statements, writing case reports, and providing court room testimony as needed.
  • Partners in collaborative efforts with other investigative entities.
  • Monitors safety and risk controls within a facility by ensuring an effective safety program, supervising safety team members, identifying accident trends, developing and implementing solutions to prevent accidents, observing workplaces practices, providing training to associates on accident prevention techniques, communicating plans to minimize accidents, overseeing safety reviews, and implementing plans to improve workplace safety.
  • Manages facility-level training and execution of asset protection, safety, claims, and receiving procedures by reviewing the application of policies, procedures, compliance guidelines (e.g., cold chain, hazardous materials), identifying gaps in expectations versus training, determining training needs, and developing and delivering training as needed.
  • Manages claims and receiving operations by ensuring proper policies and procedures are followed, ensuring the timely processing of claims (e.g., damaged, defective, returned, liquidated items) and merchandise deliveries, providing direction for claims or receiving issues, and maintaining necessary documentation and reporting.
  • Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives, identifying and communicating goals and objectives, building accountability for and measuring progress, identifying and addressing improvement opportunities, demonstrating adaptability, and promoting continuous learning.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans, utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy, and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.
