About The Position

The Asset Protection Captain at Macy's is responsible for training, educating, and supervising staff to detect and prevent theft of company property. This role supports the store's efforts to provide excellent customer service while ensuring maximum sales and profit. The position involves working with the Asset Protection team to implement theft prevention programs, respond to incidents, and maintain compliance with laws and company policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years related experience in asset protection or loss prevention.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse groups.
• Resourceful self-starter who can adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in retail loss prevention or security management.
• Knowledge of surveillance and alarm systems.

Responsibilities

• Train, educate, and supervise Asset Protection / Loss Prevention staff on theft detection and prevention.
• Develop and implement programs to prevent theft among customers and employees.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training related to security systems.
• Respond to incidents to facilitate first aid and minimize liability.
• Recover stolen merchandise and apprehend shoplifters.
• Investigate criminal violations on company premises.
• Prepare reports on theft incidents and other activities as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with laws and company policies regarding apprehensions and evidence preservation.
• Conduct audits to ensure compliance with merchandise exposure standards.
• Develop relationships with local law enforcement for coordination on criminal cases.
• Testify in court regarding cases involving the company.
• Respond to alarm conditions at the assigned store.
