About The Position

The Asset Protection Associate plays a crucial role in supporting shrinkage and safety awareness programs within the store. This position involves conducting surveillance to detect theft and fraud, detaining and interviewing suspects, maintaining records, participating in court hearings, and supporting safety programs. The associate is expected to uphold company policies and procedures while driving sales and profit through effective loss prevention strategies.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of company policy and procedures relating to loss prevention and relevant local legal requirements.
  • Ability to maintain composure and handle high-stress situations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Shrinkage and Safety Awareness programs by aiding Store Management in communicating current topics.
  • Conducts surveillance to observe customer and contractor activities, detecting theft, fraud, or suspicious activity.
  • Collects investigative intelligence related to Organized Retail Crime (ORC) activity and fraud.
  • Monitors team member activity as directed by AP management and reports infractions of company policy.
  • Conducts interviews with suspected theft individuals in accordance with local laws and company policy.
  • Reports suspected fraud to AP management or Market Investigations as needed.
  • Creates and manages records using approved company methods, ensuring proper retention of evidence and disposition of recovered merchandise.
  • Attends court hearings, updates files, and maintains relationships with local law enforcement.
  • Identifies and addresses potential hazards to customers and associates, taking initiative to correct minor hazards.
  • Conducts incident investigations and completes associated reports.
  • Collects evidence regarding internal investigations as directed by AP management.
