This role involves coaching and training associates and leaders on shrink awareness, theft deterrence, and customer service programs. The Asset Protection Agent partners with Store and AP Leadership to identify theft trends, develop action plans, and promote awareness initiatives. They are responsible for delivering SMART customer service and ensuring associates have the necessary resources. Maintaining a safe, clean, and secure store environment by monitoring entrances, exits, and high-risk areas is a key function. The agent monitors activity through surveillance, reporting, and exception-based tools to detect theft, fraud, and policy violations, and conducts external theft apprehensions and interviews in accordance with laws and company policy. They investigate and resolve criminal activity, maintain case files, and support law enforcement and court proceedings, as well as assist in internal investigations and provide evidence when needed. The role also includes validating store security measures (e.g., locks, gates, alarms) and responding to EAS and emergency exit triggers, providing feedback on audit/inspection findings, and supporting efforts to minimize shrink and operational risk. The agent must respond effectively to potentially violent situations, ensuring safety and composure. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of business needs.
