L&G – Asset Management America is seeking an experienced asset manager to support the ongoing management of our $10 billion investment grade debt private placement portfolio and, where appropriate, support the due diligence and execution of new investments. The successful candidate will partner closely with origination, portfolio management and risk stakeholders to monitor investment performance across corporate, alternative and infrastructure debt sectors.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in banking / private credit / private placements / leveraged loans / direct lending (or adjacent sectors such as structured credit, specialty finance, or project/infra debt).
  • Direct experience underwriting debt, monitoring financial performance and covenant compliance, engaging with borrowers, managing underperforming credits including amendments and waivers, and reporting on portfolio credit performance.
  • The candidate will need to be self-motivated, proactive, have strong critical thinking and analytical skills, and know how to communicate complex information effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight timelines in team environment with a high degree of collaboration.
  • Experience working with, training, and leading less experienced members of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage portfolio oversight to ensure investments are actively monitored against underwriting thesis, downside protections, and client objectives to preserve and enhance value through disciplined surveillance and escalation.
  • Proactively monitor financial performance, liquidity, and covenant compliance, including review of financial statements, compliance certificates, budgets, operating KPIs, and financial models, supplemented by direct engagement with management teams.
  • Maintain an early-warning framework utilizing our asset management platform to identify performance deterioration, elevate risk signals, and drive timely actions ranging from intensified monitoring to formal remediation plans.
  • Lead borrower and sponsor engagement, periodic credit reviews and client-facing meetings, and coordinate site visits with a focus on major capital projects.
  • Partner with borrowers to collect and validate key ESG metrics required under certain client IMAs and ensure data integrity for reporting and governance.
  • Manage and present portfolio reporting, including quarterly portfolio reviews, focus/watch lists, waiver trackers, construction logs, and portfolio dashboards for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate governance by partnering with various internal teams to refresh risk views, maintain documentation, and support related deliverables.
  • Lead amendment and waiver workstreams, including credit review, material production, negotiation of terms, and Investment Committee presentations where required.
  • Support workouts and special situations, collaborating with senior colleagues on stressed or distressed credits to protect downside, preserve value, and maximize recoveries through structured remediation and stakeholder alignment.
  • Manage post-close execution in partnership with business management teams to ensure subsequent conditions, deliverables, and operational items are completed.
  • Contribute to platform and process improvement, supporting business change initiatives across the Private Credit team related to portfolio tools, controls, and monitoring.
  • Enhance underwriting with due diligence and analytical support that leverages insights gained from the existing portfolio and observed risk patterns.
