Makpar has an exciting opportunity for an IT Asset Management Specialist to join our growing team. The Asset Management Specialist support for an Agency (Police 'Department') of approximately 3,200 users. The Specialist is responsible for Asset Management for User Devices including, but not limited to, Mobile Devices such iPhones, iPads, and MiFi's, as well as non-user devices including, but not limited to, Servers, Switches, Routers, Wireless Access Point (WAP), and Storage Attached Network (SAN) Devices. This role requires collaboration with federal program managers, agency staff, contracting officers, and multi-disciplinary development teams.

  • Overseeing the entire lifecycle of IT assets, including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Creating and maintaining a comprehensive database of all IT hardware, software, and related services.
  • Ensuring that all software is properly licensed and that the organization complies with licensing agreements and regulations.
  • Developing strategies for purchasing and acquiring new IT assets and software, often negotiating with vendors.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce IT spending by optimizing asset utilization and avoiding unnecessary purchases.
  • Managing the process of deploying new assets and coordinating the secure disposal or remarketing of old ones.
  • Assessing and managing risks associated with IT assets, such as security risks and financial risks.
  • Creating and implementing policies and procedures for effective IT asset management practices.
  • Conducting periodic audits of asset records and generating reports to support decision-making and demonstrate compliance.
  • Working with various departments, vendors, and other stakeholders to align IT asset management with business needs.
  • Conducting usability, accessibility, and quality assurance testing to ensure compliance with Section 508 and DOL technical standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience.
  • The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions about IT assets.
  • Attention to Detail: Essential for maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance.
  • A strong understanding of hardware, software, and network resources.
  • Communication Skills: To collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Certifications such as the Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) can be beneficial.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant.
