About The Position

The Asset Engineer provides critical technical and operational support for our WGS (Waha Gas Storage) assets near Pecos, Texas. This role is a blend of project management, regulatory compliance, and operational optimization. The role will focus on support of storage caverns—from active gas storage and dehydration to the leaching and drilling of new salt cavern capacity—while additionally providing engineering support for our Permian Basin gas transmission assets.

Requirements

  • Education: B.S. in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of experience in midstream, upstream, or storage operations.
  • Strong data analysis skills for inventory and capacity forecasting.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, wellbore diagrams, and facility plot plans.
  • Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between "office" engineering and "field" operations, translating complex data into actionable operational plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Storage Knowledge: Basic understanding of salt cavern leaching, gas storage mechanics, or high-pressure topside facilities (Compression/Dehydration) is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic simulation software (e.g., Synergi, ProMax).

Responsibilities

  • Storage Cavern Operations (WGS)
  • Capital Project Support: Support Project Manager’s overseeing projects involving cavern leaching, new well drilling, and topside facility expansions (Compression, TEG Dehydration).
  • Capacity & Planning: Develop gas storage capacity forecasts and conduct scenario planning to optimize cavern utilization and expansion timing.
  • Integrity & Compliance Support: Support regulatory audits and participate in well-control drills.
  • Commercial Support: Serve as a technical point of contact for inventory verification, fuel use optimization, and troubleshooting abnormal operating conditions.
  • Midland Basin Asset Support (Delaware Basin Residue, Whistler, Matterhorn)
  • Operational Troubleshooting: Provide engineering oversight for operational issues and enhancements across the Permian Basin transmission assets.
  • Hydraulic Modeling: Support monthly hydraulic reporting and analysis to identify bottlenecks or optimization opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Track recurring operational issues and standardize technical resolutions across different project teams based on field feedback.
  • Ad Hoc Support: Provide rapid-response engineering data and analysis to field operations as required.

Benefits

  • This position is located in Austin, Texas and is an in-office position.
  • Selected candidate is eligible for employer matched 401(k), medical, dental, vision, basic life and AD&D insurances and other benefit offerings.
