About The Position

This Per Diem/PRN opportunity is open to recent graduates and offers the possibility for overtime and various shifts. Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL, and outpatient services at three centers throughout the Florida Panhandle. We also offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, chemical dependency treatment, and TMS therapy for chronic depression. The Assessment Specialist performs triage, psychosocial screening, and evaluations of all patients presenting with psychiatric, behavioral, or substance abuse complaints. This role includes evaluating medical necessity and initiating the collection of information for payers, as well as working with utilization review.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma RN.
• Previous experience in behavioral health preferred.
• Current FL RN License.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced Admissions Department.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, either 6am-6:30pm or 6pm-6:30am.

Responsibilities

• Conduct telephone triage activities and determine appropriate disposition for emergency services and clinical crisis assessment.
• Perform clinical crisis assessments on patients with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
• Initiate crisis interventions to stabilize patients and/or family situations during assessments.
• Assist in the collection of updated insurance and financial information and verify insurance coverage and benefits.
• Utilize computer systems to collect and enter core data elements such as authorization information.
• Inventory and document all patient valuables upon admission.
