About The Position

The GIS Supervisor for the Assessor's Office leads a team responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining geographic information systems (GIS) to support property assessment, tax mapping, and land management processes. This role combines technical expertise, team leadership, and strategic oversight to ensure accurate and efficient spatial data analysis, mapping, and property record management. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate property assessment and efficient land management through the effective use of GIS technology and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, land surveying, or related field.
  • Three years of assessment GIS mapping experience with property deed transfers.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 or higher.
  • Knowledge of state and local property assessment laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in developing, managing, and maintaining GIS for property assessment and tax mapping.
  • Ensure accurate spatial data analysis and mapping.
  • Manage property record management processes.
  • Certify valuations to special tax districts and track values within TIF districts.
  • Prepare and deliver tax warrants to the Treasurer.
  • Maintain records on tax exemptions and generate value notices for taxpayers.
  • Process valuation protests and appeals.
