About The Position

Position Summary and Purpose This role assists the Director of Assessment and Referral Services with management oversight of the Assessment & Referral Center. Responsible for supervising the intake and assessment of patients, and ensuring that quality patient care is provided in a safe, effective manner according to established policies and procedures. This role is responsible for ensuring that standards of patient care are established and maintained in the respective areas. This includes management and oversight of staffing, compliance with state and federal regulations and third-party reimbursement guidelines. This role may provide services to various patient populations including pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. This role is also responsible for ensuring complete and accurate processes are completed for the front end of the revenue cycle.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Family and Marriage Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or other related fields OR (2) Bachelor’s Degree in Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Family and Marriage Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or other related fields with one year of experience in related field (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of admitting/assessment experience (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mental or behavioral health field (required)
  • Experience with commercial and governmental payor sources including Medicare/Medicaid (required)
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to multitask (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
  • Facility-provided Safe Crisis Management training (required)

  • Active Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Board of Social Work in the state of Kentucky or another independent license (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Interviews applicants, following personnel policies and procedures; recommends the best suited candidate for selection, involving director of ARC when appropriate
  • Acts as a resource and consults with program staff regarding patient care problems to facilitate challenging situations as they arise and to enhance staff decision-making and performance
  • Schedules staff effectively, taking into account times of highest call volume and highest assessment and admission times; along with coordinating PTO requests, and posts monthly schedule in timely fashion.
  • Assists with planning and implementation of departmental staff meetings and other departmental trainings.
  • Adjusts intake and assessment process to respond to organizational and customer needs
  • Performs direct patient care services including assessment/intake evaluation, identification of appropriate LOC and communication with referral source, family, payor source & physicians
  • Tracks and manages staff attendance records and progressive disciplinary actions
  • Maintains documentation, including: a) oversees data collection for ongoing reports, b) educates staff on level of care & Assessment procedures and importance of timeliness, accuracy, and thoroughness of information reported, c) Reviews EMTALA logs regularly
  • Coordinates and monitors calls, assessments (including mobile and telehealth), and admissions to all inpatient and outpatient services of the hospital
  • Interacts effectively with physicians and other clinical staff, including behavioral health outreach team & referral sources, supporting the organizations’ ongoing efforts
  • Demonstrates leadership in responding to hospital and community mental health needs. Participates in leadership meetings and offers information when relevant.
  • Participates in on-call department rotation.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for maintaining professional development, licensure and/or certification, practice and education.
  • Assists with new employee orientation as needed.
  • Accepts participation in special projects, other duties as assigned and appointments to hospital/local/regional committees as appropriate.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
