About The Position

Vera French Community Mental Health Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. The ACT Nurse provides essential nursing services and supports clients in developing the skills and behaviors needed to successfully integrate into the community. This is a full-time, first-shift position with rotating on-call responsibility. Our mission is to enhance the mental health of all in our community by providing quality, accessible, and comprehensive care. As an ACT Registered Nurse, you will meet clients where they are-both physically and emotionally-to assess needs and support their successful integration into the community. Vera French offers ongoing professional development through in-house training such as CPR, Medication Management, and additional courses via our learning management system. We also support continued education through our Tuition Reimbursement and Loan Repayment Program, available to all employees after one year of service.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a minimum of six months of psychiatric nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Iowa
• Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug, and alcohol screen

Nice To Haves

• ANCC Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (Generalist) certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing services, case management, and supportive counseling
• Provide medication monitoring, administration, and education
• Review laboratory values and communicate findings to the team prescriber
• Evaluate physical health needs and make appropriate referrals
• Teach independent living skills and facilitate access to community services
• Assist clients in building community support networks and assessing daily needs
