About The Position

The Production Test Operative position is part of the Manufacturing department and reports to the Operations Supervisor. The role involves preparing equipment for testing automotive products based on parameters defined in test software or documentation. The operative is responsible for ensuring that equipment is in good working order before starting the test process, loading fixtures into the equipment, and loading products onto fixtures to undertake testing as defined in the software program or documentation. Additionally, the operative will perform routine tests on machinery and equipment, monitor test results, identify anomalies or defects, and take corrective actions as needed. The role also includes recording and analyzing data generated from tests to evaluate machine performance and product quality, performing routine maintenance on testing machines, and collaborating with engineers to identify persistent problems and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of mechanical and electrical machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with testing equipment and quality control processes.
  • Attention to detail when identifying defects or faults in testing.
  • High level of attention to detail and work accuracy.
  • Able to work independently and make decisions.
  • Capable of standing for long periods and handling equipment that may require physical exertion.
  • A demonstrable background in electronics testing and diagnostics.
  • Experience in an Operations environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tests on machinery and equipment, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor test results, identify anomalies or defects, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Record and analyse data generated from tests to evaluate machine performance and product quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance on testing machines to prevent malfunctions.
  • Work with engineers to identify persistent problems and suggest improvements.
