As an Assembly Technician at Caterpillar, you will be part of the Large Power Systems Division located in Lafayette, Indiana. In this role, you will assemble components and perform adjustments on both diesel and natural gas engines. Your responsibilities will also include assembly work in sub-assembly areas directly associated with prime product engine assembly. Additionally, you will prepare engines for testing, painting, and shipping of prime products. This position offers a starting pay of $21.98/hour plus a 6% shift differential and a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Your work will involve the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing various tools and equipment such as hand tools, pneumatic tools, gauges, measuring devices, specialized torque equipment, electrical testing equipment, fork trucks, and lifting devices/cranes. You will be expected to manipulate engine components during the assembly process and learn the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. Supporting safety, quality, and production goals will be a key part of your role, along with utilizing computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, and reading and interpreting standard work input, engineering prints, and factory paperwork.
