About The Position

Assembly Technicians perform assembly or sub-assembly of aerospace parts using drills, rivet tools, and other hand tools. Technicians verify compliance with customer requirements using calipers, gauges, and other measuring & inspection tools. Technicians must follow established procedures and work instructions to complete work in an efficient and timely manner while maintaining safe practices and high quality. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: Assembles product per documentation and directions provided Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, following blueprint station lines and index points; verifies fitting tolerances using measuring instruments such as gauges and calipers Installs parts and components; may specialize in assembling and installing parts, structural components, and/or subassemblies to build full assemblies and detail parts Operates hand tools, including drills, rivet guns, screwdrivers, etc.; verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance as appropriate Locates holes to be drilled in structural assembly for installation of parts and components; using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments; drills, reams, and countersinks holes in subassemblies and installs bolts, rivets, or other fasteners per drawings and work instructions Utilizes tape measure, mics, calipers, and other gauges to interpret and record part measurements per customer specifications accurately Visually assesses parts for missing or incomplete operations Maintains quantities and operational accountability per the manufacturing control plan Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area Follows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for actions and work product Complies with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety Performs other job-related duties as assigned Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required This role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore, qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15): An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship, or An individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder), or An individual who is granted status as a "protected person"

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience requirements vary based on position level. The posted salary range reflects a broad range inclusive of multiple position levels.
  • Placement in a specific level is contingent upon education, vocational training, and related job experience; pay rates are established commensurate with the assigned position level and may fall anywhere within the posted pay range.
  • In some cases, position level is not confirmed until completion of introductory training.
  • Experience in reading and accurately interpreting shop blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, including mics and calipers
  • Experience using hand tools and instruments such as calipers, height gauges, drills, and rivet guns
  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, and stand for long periods
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material-handling equipment
  • Occasionally reaches overhead and reaches out or down
  • Frequently climb steps, stairs, or ladders
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Frequently use hands or fingers to manually inspect parts, tighten hardware & fixtures, and operate tools and material handling controls
  • Demonstrate visual acuity to accurately read mics, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring devices
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
  • Excessive noise (hearing protection required)
  • Dust, smoke, mist, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (continually)
  • The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and safety footwear is required

Responsibilities

  • Assembles product per documentation and directions provided

  • Installs parts and components; may specialize in assembling and installing parts, structural components, and/or subassemblies to build full assemblies and detail parts
