About The Position

The Assembly Technician 3 is responsible for assembling a variety of products in a manufacturing environment, ensuring quality and productivity goals are met. This role involves collaboration with team members and supervisors to achieve performance metrics in efficiency, accuracy, and inventory management. The technician will also mentor others, perform inspections, and maintain documentation related to the assembly process.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be an Intuitive Surgical employee in good standing for at least the past nine months or have at least three years of applicable experience with complex mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, including instructions and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and understand specifications and tolerances.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with standardized situations.
  • Computer skills to use personal computers and systems like Agile/SAP for checking drawings and procedures.
  • Ability to work varying shifts and in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification to PSS cart cell and 2 assembly stations of any cell.
  • Certified to all stations in SSC.
  • Certified to all Accessories and 2 assembly stations of any cell.
  • Certified to a minimum of 4 assembly Arm stations and testing.
  • Certified to VSC and 4 additional assembly stations of any cell.
  • Certified to a minimum of 6 stations on any lines and the changeover process.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble a variety of products according to standard work instructions and prints.
  • Operate and set up production equipment/fixtures as needed.
  • Become proficient at multiple assembly tasks while meeting requirements for workmanship, safety, and productivity.
  • Perform preparation work such as line clearance and changeover.
  • Inspect own and others' work, performing simple repairs as necessary.
  • Mentor others in areas of expertise as needed.
  • Complete manufacturing documentation accurately and initiate basic material requests.
  • Report quality issues, efficiency, and record measurements as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy of identification and count of point-of-use materials.
  • Determine and report material shortages accurately.
  • Follow all corporate, regulatory, safety, and production policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
