The position involves supervising the assembly department by assigning tasks and providing resources to achieve quality, productivity, efficiency, schedule, cost, and employee relations goals. The supervisor will utilize technical knowledge and sound judgment to ensure key result areas are met and responsibilities are fulfilled. The role emphasizes the importance of product quality, employee motivation, and continuous improvement in work efforts.

  • Ensure that SOPs are understood and followed to prevent mistakes and non-conformances to specifications.
  • Maintain the integrity of the product by ensuring all work instructions are correctly followed and all characteristics are inspected and recorded.
  • Conduct investigations with a quality team member to determine the root cause of discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with employees, technical services, and quality assurance to mitigate non-conformance risks.
  • Plan and coordinate with the team to ensure material is staged prior to scheduled operations.
  • Assign work and ensure team members understand tasks, allotted standard times, and manufacturing methods.
  • Monitor production progress to identify and solve potential problems proactively.
  • Participate in daily schedule and production coordination meetings to assign personnel according to schedule needs.
  • Observe work tasks to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and eliminate waste.
  • Provide training in main assignments and cross-training as needed.
  • Conduct performance appraisals on schedule, providing an objective overview of employee behavior.
  • Recognize and praise employees for exemplary performance.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions as necessary while ensuring fair treatment of employees.
  • Five years of demonstrated supervisory experience in mechanical assembly, testing, gas turbines, or power generation.
  • Aerospace/defense program knowledge preferred.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Technical degree preferred.
  • Five years of progressive achievements in manufacturing expertise.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to build consensus.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing direction to others effectively.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to implement solutions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic time and labor tracking systems.
  • Thorough understanding or ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.
