About The Position

In this position, you will provide technical and skilled support to the Assembly Final Engineering team. You will be responsible for reviewing equipment specifications and drawings, performing vendor buyoffs, overseeing equipment installation and commissioning, troubleshooting, and training plant personnel on new systems. This role requires strong PLC programming and industrial controls expertise . 🔹 Work Location: San Antonio, Texas 🔹 Contract Duration: 20 Months (Potential Extension) 🔹 Travel: Up to 50% domestic and international (Japan, Canada, Mexico) 🔹 Work Schedule: As required, with occasional overtime (~30%) 🔹 Requirements: Steel toe boots required

Requirements

  • 2+ years of PLC programming/troubleshooting experience (Toyopuc, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley).
  • 2+ years comprehensive knowledge of PLC systems , electrical circuits, and industrial controls.
  • Technical degree or trade school completion in EET, Industrial Maintenance Technology , or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings .
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including international travel, and work up to 30% overtime when required.
  • Physical stamina: ability to lift up to 40 lbs, frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and working in hot/cold or confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years industrial maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of industrial robot programming and teaching
  • Experience with AGV/AMR setup and programming
  • Knowledge of safety scanners and programming
  • Familiarity with industrial control networking (EthernetIP, FLNet, ProfiNet, etc.)
  • Automotive manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Review equipment specifications and design, identify improvements, and conduct vendor buyoffs to confirm equipment functions.
  • Install, verify, and commission assembly equipment while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Investigate, implement, and adjust modifications based on trial results.
  • Reduce project costs and time by confirming equipment quality at the vendor site before installation.
  • Oversee vendor installation and facilitate kanban processes to minimize adjustment time during vehicle trials.
  • Confirm equipment performance using secondary methods (torque checks, vacuum profiles, etc.).
  • Install, set up, and troubleshoot Toyopuc and Allen-Bradley programmable controllers.
  • Provide training to Maintenance personnel on new equipment.
  • Share subject matter expertise with NAMC Maintenance and Production members.
