The Legislative Assistant position in Representative Paul Melotik's office is designed for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who will provide essential support in office administration, constituent relations, and communications. The role is located in the State Capitol and requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. The position is set to start on January 6, 2025.

  • Managing emails, letters, and phone calls from constituents and stakeholders
  • Scheduling meetings of the Representative
  • Maintaining data within a constituent contact database
  • Assisting with constituent casework
  • Drafting communications including electronic newsletters and social media posts
  • Greeting visiting constituents when they come to the Capitol
  • Assisting with policy research
  • Other duties as assigned by the Representative
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-through skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in government, politics, advocacy, and/or organizing preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize simultaneous responsibilities
  • Possess a high degree of professionalism and understanding of discretion
  • Experience in government, politics, advocacy, and/or organizing
