About The Position

Thales Alenia Space is a global space manufacturer delivering high-tech solutions for telecommunications, navigation, Earth Observation, environmental management, exploration, science, and orbital infrastructures. The Assembly Integration & Test Technician position in Zurich involves working on the development, operation, and deployment of satellite-based systems. The role includes cleaning and preparation of components, performing mechanical integration tasks, documenting integration steps, supporting test campaigns, and providing technical support to various teams. The technician will also be involved in manufacturing mechanical components and packing hardware for storage and transportation.

Requirements

  • Educational Degree in Space or Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in Opto-Mechanical assembly and test in the space industry or a similar complex industry.
  • Independent, careful, and structured work approach.
  • Experience in working in a clean-room environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English; German is a plus.
  • Ability to work within international and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to present ideas and listen to others’ ideas.
  • Structured, methodical working method.
  • Ability to proactively find solutions within the available timeframe and budget.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working in a clean-room environment.
  • Manufacturing skills in drilling, milling, and machining.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and preparation of components according to specifications.
  • Perform mechanical integration tasks for space projects for components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, instruments, and systems according to the drawings and space industry requirements.
  • Document integration steps and maintain records for traceability.
  • Support the project team for the test campaign, particularly for handling hardware and mechanical activities.
  • Provide technical support to the IVVQ Manager for integration activities.
  • Support the Design Team, Technology Team, and IVVQ Team to review hardware designs for efficient integration.
  • Assist with Incoming Inspections of Components and Assemblies when needed.
  • Pack hardware for storage and transportation.
  • Manufacture mechanical components in the workshop according to design drawings.
