Leidos’ Defense Systems Space Sensing is seeking an Assembly, Integration and Test Technician to join our team in San Diego, California. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering documents, and assembly instructions.
  • Proficient in using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with ERP/shop floor systems.
  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and second or third shift as required.
  • Must be a US Citizen and meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or vocational training in manufacturing, aerospace, or mechanical technology preferred.
  • Experience in aerospace coatings, including surface prep, masking, application of primers/sealants, or anti-corrosion treatments.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001 quality systems, or NADCAP requirements.
  • Certifications in aerospace manufacturing or coatings (e.g., NACE, SSPC, AWS) a plus.
  • Prior work in a cleanroom or high-reliability manufacturing environment.
  • Current and active DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and structural assembly of aerospace components per work instructions, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and test equipment to assemble, fit, and install parts and components.
  • Conduct inspections of in-process and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare and apply surface coatings (e.g., primers, sealants, bonding agents) according to engineering documentation and process specifications (preferred).
  • Fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing setting.
  • May require standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and wearing PPE.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production schedules.
