The Assembly Engineer position at Actalent involves developing process plans for production lines within the powertrain department, supporting capital projects from planning to start of production, and mentoring other engineers and technicians. The role requires leading cost planning, budget creation, and machine procurement, while also participating in cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. This is a fully onsite position in Huntsville, Alabama, with responsibilities that include equipment installations and maintaining detailed schedules and budgets.

  • Developing process plans for production lines within the powertrain department with direct support from the Manager.
  • Supporting the department's objective to execute Capital Projects from planning through the Start of Production (SOP).
  • Directly supporting other engineers or technicians through mentorship.
  • Leading the cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-production trials, and launch of production lines.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed schedules and budgets for assigned areas.
  • Participating in cross-functional working groups across the local facility and corporate departments to achieve project goals.
  • Participating in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others within the department.
  • Construction / Equipment installations.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field and 5+ years of automotive engineering experience.
  • Experience in production preparation of manufacturing and execution of capital projects, preferably from initial planning to start of production.
  • Experience providing support in PLC troubleshooting, specifically strong experience in modifying code.
  • Experience troubleshooting and/or establishing new Vision Systems for production.
  • Experience creating and implementing assembly processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with detail schedule creation and utilization for capital projects greater than $500K.
  • AutoCad experience, including the ability to read, interpret and modify 2D drawings.
  • Ability to support weekends, off shift, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work plant scheduled shutdown times each year (December).
  • Ability for business travel, both domestic and international may be up to 50%.
  • Ability for business travel to other North American sites to support future project.
  • Production Engineering experience in; Assembly, Machining, Paint, Welding, Stamping.
  • PLC experience, including the ability to investigate and troubleshoot.
  • Experience and/or exposure to powertrain manufacturing processes.
