About The Position

As a Machine Assembler at Coperion Food Equipment (Formerly - Shaffer Peerless), you will be responsible for assembling components such as mixers, sandwiching equipment, mixes & batter equipment, and product handling systems. Your role involves working with parts and assemblies that require careful fitting, trimming, and adjustment to close tolerances. You will use a variety of hand tools and demonstrate good dexterity and facility in handling challenging parts. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the production of high-quality equipment in a dynamic manufacturing environment. 1st Shift: Flexible start time starting at 5am for an 8 hour shift (Monday - Friday) Overtime: When production demands require overtime, work hours may be extended and can include the addition of a Saturday shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly, using hand tools, and working with parts requiring close tolerances.
  • Good dexterity and facility in handling challenging parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively within established procedures and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in food equipment assembly or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble industrial food equipment, including mixers, sandwiching, mixes & batter, and product handling systems, according to established procedures.
  • Adjust, trim, and fit parts to close tolerances, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
  • Use a variety of hand tools to perform assembly tasks, demonstrating good dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Make minor procedural decisions related to fitting and adjusting parts, always within established guidelines.
  • Support quality standards by inspecting assembled components and ensuring conformance to specifications.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
  • Support other manufacturing activities as needed to meet production schedules.
