About The Position

The Assembler is responsible for assembling crane units—including prototypes, first production units, and final assembly components—according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role includes mechanical and structural assembly, installation of components, and preparation of cranes for customer delivery. Assemblers must work collaboratively, demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, maintain attention to detail, and ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and read both standard and metric measurements.
  • Ability to adjust to meeting specifications and resolve assembly issues.
  • Strong visual acuity for detail, color, near, and distance work.
  • Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, squatting, walking, reaching, and material handling tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience preferred; mechanical and/or heavy equipment maintenance skills considered.
  • Welding skills are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assemble cranes by reviewing assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists; prepare required tools, materials, and subassemblies.
  • Position parts and components using templates, precise measurements, and overhead cranes.
  • Hang sheet metal components and install structural elements onto crane frames.
  • Assemble and install catwalks, ensuring proper alignment and secure attachment.
  • Assemble crane doors and install hardware including hinges and handles; use overhead cranes to position and secure doors.
  • Install belly pans and top covers to complete structural enclosures.
  • Perform full mechanical assembly of all crane components, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and securement.
  • Replace hydraulic filters on every unit per assembly protocol.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all parts required for each unit.
  • Operate hand tools including air tools, impact wrenches, hand wrenches, screwdrivers, and drills.
  • Use hammers, die grinders, and tap to adjust, align, or modify components for proper fit.
  • Apply touch‑up painting using brushes or spray guns (excluding full spray‑gun painting).
  • Make assembly adjustments and verify accuracy to meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Apply decals using water and squeegees, following precision placement guidelines.
  • Thoroughly clean crane cabs, including washing and vacuuming interior surfaces.
  • Ensure units are clean, complete, and ready for final inspection and customer delivery.
  • Measure completed components to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and tape measures (standard, metric, and tenths).
  • Resolve assembly issues by adjusting components to meet engineering and quality requirements.
  • Document production results and quality checks accurately.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Notify supervisors when parts, materials, or components are missing or unavailable.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety regulations and plant procedures.
  • Learn and follow safe overhead crane operation practices.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
