The Assembler position involves assembling machinery components, such as operating cylinders, electric control cases, transmissions, clutches, and special tools, according to specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Transports specified parts from storage to work area manually or by using overhead crane.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
  • Brushes lubricant on moving parts and fits parts together on bench, following blueprints.
  • Operates machine manually to perform nonautomated functions when machine malfunctions.
  • Discusses errors with supervisor to resolve problems.
  • Cleans machine, tooling, and parts.
  • Performs machine maintenance.
  • Bolts, screws, and rivets parts together.
  • Operates hydraulic press to force bearings into sleeves and flatten rivets.
  • Connects electric wires to terminals of subassembly.
  • Moves subassembly to storage area.
