The Wiring/Soldering Operator will be responsible for hand soldering fine wires to defined solder junctions and proper wire routings per engineering documentation. Operator must be able to inspect their own work and compare against defined procedures, schematics and workmanship standards.

  • Obtain and pass established internal soldering exercises.
  • Set up station with the correct tools/fixtures and components per assembly/process drawings.
  • Performs solder operations according to FUTEK workmanship standards.
  • Ability to work under magnification to perform work tasks (Camera, microscope or magnification lamps)
  • Read and understand how to interpret assembly drawings and work instructions.
  • Monitors quality in accordance with established quality specifications.
  • Handle, trim and adjust small single conductor wires without damaging outside conductor jackets using tweezers or other small hand equipment.
  • Knowledge of different processes (lead and lead free) fluxes, solder, and cleaning solvents.
  • Adjust or trim materials from components to achieve specified electrical requirements or dimensional characteristics.
  • Connect component lead wires to solder junctions or route and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
  • Perform defluxing or cleaning of solder joint using necessary equipment.
  • Utilize instrumentation (DMM and Power supply) equipment to check product conformity after soldering operations have been performed. Document inspection results (if applicable) and process jobs in the appropriate sections of our MES system.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations (5S).
  • Ability to read/write and effectively communicate in English.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Competent with basic hand instruments such as soldering irons, tweezers/cutters and measurement tools.
  • Excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including ability to work with small components that require magnification.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Time management skills.
  • Knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Knowledge of measuring ruler or measuring equipment and relationship to fractional or decimal equivalents.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
