About The Position

Summary of Position: Performs duties to assemble mechanical and electronic components and constructs a variety of standard and unique sirens and other emergency warning products. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Works from SMV specifications, drawings, wiring diagrams, and instructions. Plans and sets up work area, determining assembly method and procedures for assembling products. Fits, aligns, mounts, connects, solders and otherwise secures parts and auxiliary units accurately. Trains and instructs new and existing employees to work effectively within the department and instructs them in all facets of the work cell operation. Uses computer, fax, hand power tools, gauges, fixtures, measuring equipment, hand and power material handling equipment. Possesses ability to read and understand component assembly drawings and maintains flow of production and quality standards. Identifies opportunities for reducing set up time. Works with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to effect changes in tooling, design, and processes that will increase and improve throughput, minimize waste, and reduce inventory. Performs preventative maintenance (cleaning, oiling, inspecting, and minor adjustments) on equipment within the work cell. Responsible for and has authority to transmit (KanBan) releases to internal and external suppliers. Minimizes work cell inventory. Performs duties to identify and store materials, supplies, and components in work cell. Uses the computer to determine the latest component and/or assembly revision, order status, component cost, where used status, bin location, and other related data. Maintains department records as required. Makes operational test using a variety of equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs, or replaces parts and makes final adjustments to meet quality standards and specifications. Identifies defective or damaged (nonconforming) parts and materials. Participates in group meetings to discuss problems and/or proposed improvements. Rotates between various jobs within the department to facilitate cross training. Follows safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
