About The Position

The Options Department Technician is responsible for installing and modifying customer-selected options on trailers during and after the manufacturing process. This role requires multi-trade experience and a strong understanding of electrical systems, cabinetry, flooring, awnings, and generators as they apply to trailer manufacturing. The technician ensures all option work is completed efficiently, safely, and to quality standards while supporting production schedules. Assembly team members are responsible for assembling quality trailer with outstanding service in a safe manner and must be able to manufacture in a fast paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in electrical, cabinetry, flooring, awnings, and generator installation, preferably in a manufacturing, RV, trailer, or mobile unit environment.
  • Knowledge of 12V and 110V electrical systems.
  • Ability to read work instructions, schematics, and build sheets.
  • Mechanical aptitude with attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Ability to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • High School Diploma / GED, or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities in directly job-related experiences.
  • Possess good physical stamina and coordination with the ability to safely lift 80 pounds with prolonged periods of standing.
  • Able to work 10 hour shifts with potential overtime.
  • Willing to submit a pre-employment background check.
  • Able to work in a self-directed way to manage multiple demands of time and attention in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in trailer, RV, or modular manufacturing.
  • Electrical or mechanical certifications.
  • Experience with generator integration and electrical load systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install and modify trailer options including:
  • Electrical systems (12V/110V wiring, lighting, outlets, panels, and accessories)
  • Cabinetry installation, adjustments, and secure mounting for mobile environments
  • Flooring installation and repairs (vinyl, laminate, or specialty flooring)
  • Awnings and exterior-mounted components
  • Generators and related systems (mounting, connections, testing)
  • Interpret work orders, option sheets, and manufacturing drawings accurately.
  • Ensure installations meet manufacturing specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to maintain build flow.
  • Diagnose and correct installation defects or option-related issues.
  • Perform functional testing of installed options to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintain tools, materials, and workstation organization.
  • Follow all facility safety, quality, and production procedures.
  • Ensure your own safety by always using designated personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools designed and rated for the task, complying with safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Report to work on time to support production startup and throughput goals.
  • Operate all power tools and machinery on the assembly line effectively and respectfully.
  • Read and understand work orders and work instructions.
  • Perform quality checks and product inspections by completing final inspection sheets, as directed by assigned production supervisor.
  • Perform daily inspections on equipment prior to shift startup to ensure the safety of you and your coworkers, as well as the operational effectiveness of equipment.
  • Axle, wire, deck, and inspect trailers, as assigned by production supervisor.
